Mezzo-Soprano Karen Carle has appeared with many musical organizations on the West Coast. A frequent guest artist at the Napa Symphony, she has appeared in Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Grieg's Peer Gynt, the Wine Country Pops and most recently, the Verdi Requiem. Messiah credits include a nationally telecast "Sing-It-Yourself Messiah" from Davies Symphony Hall and a performance with the Fremont/Newark Philharmonic. Ms. Carle has also performed Mozart's Requiem with the Sacramento Symphony, Beethoven's Mass in C with the La Jolla Symphony, Mozart's Mass in C-minor with the San Francisco City Chorus and the Bach B minor Mass at UC Berkeley and the Bach Magnificat with Soli Deo Gloria.

Operatic credits include Pagliacci (Nedda), Hansel and Gretel (Hansel), Carmen (Mercedes), The Turn of the Screw (Governess), La Dolorosa (Dolores), and Amelia goes to the ball (Amelia) performed with Rogue Opera, Marin Opera, West Bay Opera, Pocket Opera, Cinnabar Opera, Conservatory Opera Theater, and the Jarvis Conservatory.

 


She has appeared frequently on the stage at Mendocino Festival, as the Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Flora in La Traviata, and last summer in the role of Tisbe in Rossini's La Cenerentola. Among her opera credits this fall she performed the role of Giovanna in Rigoletto at Sacramento Opera, and the role of the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Sonoma Opera.

An avid recitalist, Ms. Carle most recently was featured in Consortmusik's Baroque recital, at Grace Cathedral and in Carmel. Ms. Carle has been a district winner and Pacific Regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Competition, as well as a finalist in the MacAllister International Vocal Competition.
